Discover an exceptional coffee that comes straight from Indonesia. The coffee is of "Sumatra hulled honey" quality. The producing farm / cooperative is Koerintji Barokah Bersama. The variety of coffee produced locally is Sigarar Utang. It is produced between 1400 and 1700 meters above sea level in the beautiful Koerintji cooperative. The cooperative is located in the heart of the Gunung Tujuh sub-region. The Koerintji cooperative is made up of 250 members. Each member is actually a producer family who each manage a plantation, sometimes for generations. It is in the heart of the Kerinci region in Sumatra that several families grow coffee cherries, less than 2.5 hectares per family. For most families, it is coffee that allows them to earn an income. At the heart of the cooperative, management is led by Tryiono. He takes care of all these members in the process of growing, harvesting, processing coffee and even roasting if necessary. Tryiono also provides the washing station for families who do not have access to it. The Koerintji cooperative is experiencing phenomenal success, knowing that it has been up and running since 2017. Incredible small cooperative!
What is specialty coffee?
Specialty coffee is a top-of-the-range coffee known as “rare”, with unique characteristics in the world. It is cultivated in the highest altitudes of the world, in family plantations whose objective is the superior quality, signed by a manual harvest in order to guarantee the perfection of the grain. The terroir coffees are carefully sourced for the care taken by the producer, a superior manual and selective harvest, full traceability, a cultivation method and a respected and controlled treatment process.
What is the Score?
The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) defines a high standard coffee analysis procedure to assess all the specifics of specialty coffee. SCA determines the value of odor, aroma, body, acidity, possible defects. A coffee is rated on a scale of 100, and must obtain a minimum score of 80 points to be able to be determined as "specialty coffee".
