It is impossible to talk about coffee of African origin without mentioning Rwanda's coffee.
Rwanda has a very specific topography. It is part of the interlacustrine Africa, Africa of Great Lakes. Located between Uganda (north), Democratic Republic of Congo (west), Burundi (south) and Tanzania (south-east), Rwanda covers an area of 26,000 km2 bordered to the north of a chain of volcanic mountains. Agriculture holds an important place, 34.2% of its population is active in the cash crop (coffee) and in the food crop (fruits - mostly banana). Rwandans know the exceptional quality of their soil and know how to bring the best care to plantations.
Three main cities are known in Rwanda: Goma, the capital in the north, Butare in the South (direction Rwanda and Gisuma.
Our coffee comes from the region of the latter city, located not far from the RN6 national road that leads to Kamembe on the shores of Lake Kivu. For globetrotters, it is west of the Nyungwe National Reserve.
The region from which our coffees originate is very mountainous, plantations difficult to access. The peaks reach up to 2,700 meters above sea level, in a green world (hills and forest of medium to low height - famous for its monkey populations).
The coffee plantations are scattered in an infinity of small family plots, or in rugo at the top of the hills.
